Sunnah Acts of Fasting
“Whosoever do the sunnah acts of fasting
gets the reward and whoever does not do them will not be a sinner”
When The Prophet SAW did it, of course
there are lots of benefits behind them.
1.
THE MORNING MEAL (SAHUR)
The Prophet SAW said “Take
Sahur as there is a blessing in it”
It was reported by Muslim
that, eating of Sahur is the difference between the muslims and the people of
Scriptures.
Sahur also prepares our
body for fasting period hence it facilitates fasting. Not only that, since it
is a very encouraged sunnah, one gets an increased amount of reward by waking
up for Sahur.
So even just to take a sip
of water, do have your Sahur.
2.
DELAYING SAHUR TILL THE LAST
PORTION OF THE NIGHT
The Prophet SAW said “The
people will remain on the right path as long as they hasten the breaking of
fast and delay the morning meal”
3.
THE BEST THINGS ONE MAY TAKE AS
SAHUR ARE DRIED DATES
The Prophet SAW said “The
best Sahur of the believer is dates”
Having a high glycemic index,
dates also can give your body the level of glucose needed for fasting.
4.
HASTENING THE BREAKING OF THE
FAST (IFTAR)
One should hasten breaking
the fast as long as he is absolutely sure about setting of the sun. A delayed
breaking of fast is the practice of Jews and Christians.
The Prophet SAW said “The
people will remain on the right path as long as they hasten the breaking of
fast and delay the morning meal”
5. THE DUA’A (INVOCATION) DURING
THE FAST AND SPECIALLY AT THE TIME OF BREAKING THE FAST
The Prophet said “Three
kinds of Duaa’s (invocations) are to be granted, the first is of the person who
is fasting, the second of an oppressed person and the third is of the traveler”
