Ramadhan 2010/1431H: An introduction

Venue: International Medical University (IMU) Bukit jalil

Assalamualaikum w.b.t.

It is a great honor and blessings from Him, that we in the new committee finally managed to walk the talk by introducing this new blog of MSOC which aims at empowering us and all of you brothers and sisters out there with this means of sharing and caring. It is even more fantastic to realize that we are actually starting on this in the month of Ramadhan, the Holy month, the only one mentioned in the Quranul Kareem.

This year as usual, we continue the activities previously had by the past committees but what matters more is that we, to the best of our ability, try to make it in our own way, so that it is better and benefit all of us more and to promote creativity and progress in the society.

Like one of those sayings from Albert Einstein that says, "The true definition of insanity is doing things  by using the same method but expect a different result." This phrase is true enough with its deep meaning and in line with what Islam encourages us to do- go for something that is right (despite its difficulties) rather than things that are easy and popular (but with mediocre results). There is no short cut to success remember?

Coming back to our topic, Ramadhan Kareem, there are a number of activities that are ongoing like Bura', Bazaar Ramadhan, Mini Iftar, Tadarus Al-Quran and Terawikh prayer. Meanwhile, we will be having two more big events in conjunction with Ihya' Ramadhan, namely The Ramadhan Talk and Grand Iftar, which will be announced in further details very soon, insya Allah. It is also worth mentioning here that in this month of creating ukhuwah (brotherhood and fraternity) in Islam, we have already made a visit to Asrama Anak-Anak Yatim Darul Taqwa (ASDAT), adopted orphanage from Sg. Besi and insya Allah, will continue extending our helping hands, to help relieve burdens, where they exist, as well as to fulfill our responsibility as Muslims by giving back to the community especially the needy like these poor kids.

Over time, more on MSOC activities and events will be updated here for all of you to refer and more importantly, participate. We also have MSOC Facebook which aims to provide instant update about us as well as the blog, so it is much appreciated if you can request for membership and insya Allah we will surely welcome you in. The more the merrier isn't it? Plus, if there are things that can be shared, we surely will do so. As a start, in case you miss our weekly published Bura' at IMU, or you really wish to keep the soft copies of them, you may want to download it by going to the 'Downloads' section above.

Next, in the 'About Us' section, you can read all about our logo and our mission that we aim to achieve before we pass the baton to the next committee. The last one, in the 'Contact Us' section, you will be pleased to know that we are all ready to receive your feedbacks, ideas or comments and even any kind of sharing that you may wish to do with us. It is a great opportunity we provide that not only you can talk to us by sending email to our msoc2010@yahoogroups.com, but interestingly enough, you can also contact us personally, if you want to. Every details of us are provided, just for you, so that we promote strong and effective communication between you and us.

As a final remark, we really want to thank you very much for your first visit and we hope that you will always be with us, support us and more importantly, work with us towards creating better Muslims, therefore greater Ummah. May Allah bless us all and may this Ramadhan be better than the previous one, insya Allah.

"O you who believe! Fasting is prescribed for you as it was prescribed for those before you, that you may become Al-Muttaqun (the pious).

(Fasting) for a fixed number of days, but if any of you is ill or on a journey, the same number (should be made up) from other days. And as for those who can fast with difficulty, (i.e. an old man, etc.), they have (a choice either to fast or) to feed a poor person (for every day). But whoever does good of his own accord, it is better for him. And that you fast, it is better for you if only you know."

From Muslims, To Muslims, Reaching You To Reach Others,

Wassalam. (^_^)V
